Kumasi Institute of Technology, Energy and Environment (KITE)

The Kumasi Institute of Technology, Energy and Environment is a Ghanaian Not-for-Profit organization leading in Energy, Technology, and Environment sectors in Ghana and West Africa. Established in 1996, it implements public benefit projects, partners with key actors, and has operational offices in Accra and Kumasi. Their vision is sustainable energy accessibility for accelerated growth in Africa.

Their mission involves promoting access to sustainable energy, environmental, and technological services. Their goals include effective energy resource use, reducing energy poverty, and enhancing transparency in Ghana's energy sector governance.

Electrification of Miawani Village

The Nexans Foundation will provide support for KITE's project to extend the low-voltage distribution grid network from Kwaakokrom to Miawani, a rural community near Antoakrom in the Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region in Ghana. Miawani currently lacks access to modern electricity, and approximately 100 households reside in this agrarian community. The primary objective of the project is to provide these households with their first-ever access to modern energy services through grid extension. As part of the project, 40 wooden poles and accessories, along with a 100 KVA Pole Mounted Transformer (PMT), will be installed to facilitate the grid extension.
